Frequently Asked Questions at Barnsley carpet & upholstery cleaners

What method do we use

we use Low Moisture & Hot water extraction First we establish the construction of your carpet , then choose the best solution to be used as a preconditioner. Then we vacuum your carpet with a high powered industrial vacuum cleaner to remove up to 80% of the dirt in the carpet. we then spray the carpeted area with the encapsulation solution and let it dwell for 15 to 20 minutes this is to allow the solution to start breaking down the soils and grease deposits attached to the fibers. after the required time has elapsed we agitate the the solution with a heavy duty rotary machine with a brush attached , this then breaks down all the dirt and grease and removes any hairs or dirt that are attached to the fibres . at this point any stains are treated and removed with specialist stain removers once this process is finished we apply a cotton bonnet pad to the rotary this is then applied to the carpet and absorbs all the dirt and moisture , carpets are left clean fresh and dry in minutes not hours

Do you use hot water extraction (steam cleaning)

Yes we do use hot water extraction , when the carpet is heavily soiled with grease or a heavy traffic area . Hot water is a restoration process where carpets are in need of a deep clean . first we vac your carpet very thoroughly this removes upto 70% of the dry soil. We then apply a preconditioner called shockwave. Shockwave is a complete formulation for the treatment of heavy grease and organic soiling. Shockwave does not contain harsh solvents or caustics and uses a fast acting grease breaking formulation for instant action . we then have a cup of tea and let the solution work, we have found that 15 to 20 mins is the optimal time. we then run the rotary buffer fitted with a bristle brush attached over the carpet to loosen any remaining grease or stubborn staining . this also rejuvenates the pile bringing back the spring in the fibres. Once this is completed we extract using a 135psi twin vac machine with the water reaching near boiling point with a added deoderiser (55deg for natural fibers) this sterilises and rinses the fibers of any remaining stains . Due to the heat of the water drying times are faster and on a normal day your carpet will be dry within 4 to 5 hours

I have black marks around the edges what is this ?

They are commonly known as draught marks or filtration lines. They are caused by air passing up through the house and through your carpet fibres , the fibres trap and filter dust from the environment and this leaves a oily black deposit in the areas of draught . These can be removed but will eventually return, unless the floors are sealed
